Hello, and welcome to my kitchen!
I’m Suzu, a health food enthusiast with a passion for whipping up uncomplicated, nutritious, and delicious meals out of my home kitchen in Iowa.
I’m so glad you found my blog, and without telling you my whole life story, I want to share a bit about myself so you can get to know the girl behind the recipes.
Let’s whip through some quick stats: I was born and raised in Niigata, Japan, and now I live in Iowa with my husband Gabe since January 2024.
We met online in June 2020. We are both anime-loving otaku! We got engaged in August 2022 and I decided to move to the US. It took us a year and a half to get a visa (cost: several thousand dollars). We were in a long-distance relationship for about four years, so we are very happy to be able to spend time together now.
Now let’s go back to where my passion for cooking!
I grew up learning how to cook from my Mom and Grandma.
During my childhood, My parents were very busy, so I often went to my grandparents’ house. My first memory is when I was about 5 years old and my grandmother taught me how to peel apples.
From then on, I was in charge of cutting vegetables next to my grandmother in the kitchen. I remember that she was not afraid to let me hold a knife and let me try.
My grandmother passed away when I was 21, so she doesn’t know who I am and where i live now, but I’m sure she’s watching over me from heaven.
My mother and I often loved to talk while cooking in the kitchen. She was a great mother who raised three children and cooked balanced and delicious meals for us every day. Now I think it is my turn to provide nutritious meals for my family. I am currently living alone with my husband Gabe, but I plan to post many delicious recipes on this blog until we have beautiful children together. If you are not sure what to cook tonight, you can always visit my blog to find dinner ideas!
